The capital city is Phnom Penh and charming city in colonial times was called the "Pearl of Asia", situated at the confluence of the Mekong, Bassac and Tonle Sap, is also the center of economy and culture of the whole of Cambodia.
Formed by a series of pagodas, including the famous Silver Pagoda (the name is derived from the engineered flooring tiles from the roof of gild and silver) on the banks of the Mekong is the Royal Palace. 
Years of war, the hardships caused by political instability and the genocide perpetrated by the Khmer Rouge have made this very poor country.
Today, the country concentrates all its efforts to emerge from isolation with policies aimed at developing the tourism sector which has now become one of the main resources of the country.
Cambodia offers visitors a range of choices really rich and interesting, thanks to this wonderful land, untouched by mass tourism, and its traditions remained virtually unchanged over time.

    Located in central Cambodia is this beautiful lake connected to the Mekong River.
